PDotO Details How He Decides Which Producers To Work With. Pretoria-based rapper PDotO has amassed a good following in SA Hip-hop due to his prolific story-telling in his raps. However, the Son Of Nomsa chanter is not taking all the credit for himself, rather he acknowledged all the producers who have been making it possible for him to release good music.
Speaking during an interview on Massive Metro Podcast, PDotO lifted the veil on his process of selecting producers to collaborate with. PDotO’s producer selection process isn’t just about choosing well-known names; it’s about working with individuals whose sonic visions align with his own artistic direction.
“It’s like saying how do you decide which meal to eat, let me taste it, this taste nice you know, I like this chicken, let’s put this chicken in there, it basically it, he said metaphorically.
“When people send you good stuff and you listen to it and it just arouses your interest and it sounds really great that’s really how I decide. But some people (Producers) obviously have a reputation with them, you already know he’s brilliant so when you send your stuff your antennas are up,” he added.
Responding to what made him decide which producer should be on his recent project, PDotO said; “the majority of producers I work with I’ve worked with them before. It’s like probably one of them that I haven’t worked with on this project (Son Of Nomsa). So there’s already a report, there’s already people that understand my sound and what I like and what the type of beats that I like. So when they send me beats, they already know what’s gonna pick my interest.”
With a career spanning over a decade, PDotO has firmly established himself as a prominent figure in the South African hip-hop scene, garnering both critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base, and producers alike.
