One of the defining features of “Sondela” is its star-studded ensemble of guest artists. The track boasts an array of celebrated vocalists, including the likes of the late Riky Rick, Yumbs, Blxckie, Tshego, and Raspy.
The song exudes a bitter-sweet moment for the famed DJs Venom and Shishiliza as they lost Riky Rick who did not live to witness the greatness of this exceptional song. Last year, the song went gold two weeks after release and Vemon described the moment as bittersweet.
“Sondela is very bittersweet. Bitter in the sense that we lost Ricky and sweet because it’s doing everything, we had imagined for it to do. It’s crazy because we fought over the song so many times in the weeks prior to its drop and here we are with this no.1 but one of us is missing. It’s a very bittersweet feeling but we thank God nonetheless.” Venom told the Sowetan.
